School 2013-14

Here we go: We'll start with Tyler in Percy Jackson form. He's a fifth grader and still at Columbia. He switches between 4 teachers this year. That will keep him on his toes. He has an added bonus this year in that is 4th grade teacher followed him up to the 5th grade. Makes him happy and me too. Just a fun fact: Our school had a back to school bash with sno-cones, popcorn and bouncy houses. That night the kids got to meet their teachers. Since Tyler can talk and needed no introduction I sent him to stand in the long lines and watched from afar as he greeted his teachers. Truly a fun little treat to spy on my boy.

This is Katie and she is my first grader and her teacher is Mrs. Hart. Katie is thrilled to be back at school. I'm not sure if it's the clothes or reading that she is more excited for. Either way I'm sure this year will be a good one. Bedtime has been pushed back a whole hour. Yikes. What am I thinking? I'm thinking it's hard to believe Katie is in her 2nd year of school.

My bear, Kaylyn. She's an 8th grader (gulp) at Liberty Middle. She's playing in the band, taking honors classes, has one more year of PE and rides the bus home. She begged and pleaded for eight whole months to be home schooled. I wasn't taking the bait. Come to find out on schedule day that her friend was not in one of her classes she was a little upset. I didn't take to it to well and decided to take the matter all the way to the top. She thought I was crazy and one day maybe she'll see it as me going to bat for her; either way it worked in her favor. I love her but so does her Heavenly Father who gave her tender mercy.

Thomas is a Senior but shhhh he doesn't want to here about it. He doesn't want to be reminded that he only has one year left at home. Seriously, shhhh....It wasn't his last first day of school either. It can't be helped he just would prefer to live in the moment, never knowing what's around that corner. He wants responsibility.Yup. This one, my friends, will be his toughest year yet. You see, his Mom is sitting this one out!  For example: "Mom, I need black socks for the parade!! Bring them to me!!" It will be. "Thomas we ate all the candy at the parade before you got home." See? Then insert a picture of him wearing white socks. Oh boy, he's a Senior!

Good things are in store this year. Woohoo!
(the last picture of all my kids on their first day of school. Shhh.)
