Oh, life.

I'm sad it takes so much time and thought to blog. It's even harder to get my camera out. Two things I love dearly and that I have missed. Summer has come with fun, trips, mild weather, and a nagging bulging disc in my back. I'm slower, cranky, and have learned to let things go. Mostly laundry and hobbies. Even reading is too much. My family has picked up the slack and am so grateful for them. I'm finally in physical therapy and am thankful for the lessons I'm learning there to move forward. Onward I go. But I must share my favorite Thomas story of the summer. There are many but this one I want remember.

I was home alone. Dane had taken the kids to the movies and I was home alone resting. Thomas was with friends and came home. We had a conversation that went yada yada yada. And then he says, "Mom there's grass stuck in my foot." I assume he means there's grass in his flip flop. He then says, "No, Mom grass is in my foot. It happens all the time in the summer." Thus I'm still thinking grass in the flip flop. He asks me for tweezers. I'm like this is crazy. So I say let me see. Well, remember he's my kid that flips out because of pain or blood. So he's fighting me with words. I say just let me see. Finally he holds up his foot. Dark as night. I can't see a thing. I grab my phone for the flashlight and Thomas says, "I don't want a picture I just want you to look at it." So funny. I didn't take a picture but the thought of him thinking I was made me chuckle. Come to find out without me ever touching his foot or flip flop he had a splinter. Not grass. He removed it just fine.  Can you imagine grass stuck in your foot? Crazy.

Now for another crazy story. We had Grace visit for 10 days. Super fun. On Saturday she had a 5:40 flight out of Nashville. We left at 2:00. Hit mile marker 12 and stopped. Literally not moving. I even parked the car. People were out of there cars. I called Dane for an alternate route and had to make an exit 3 miles away. Took 30 minutes. Took back roads back to the airport but it took 3 and half hours because everyone else were taking back roads. Come to find there was a tractor trailer with 60 cattle that turned over. Closed both sides of interstate. From mile marker 12-61. Never saw cow or the trailer but can you imagine 60 cows on the interstate?! We missed her flight. But the aircraft was still at the gate once we finally got there. Thinking we had been so lucky to make it they announce no unaccompanied minors on the plane due to tornados in Denver. Just to be safe if they had to land somewhere else. So I had a panic attack. I have to drive it again tomorrow. Didn't even want to call my sister and tell her. I was trying to have everything go smoothly. But alas it was not to be. Grace summed it up when she said, " I wish we never would have come and tried. We should have just gone to the aquarium."
