So yesterday.......

there was a chess tournament. And three of our kids played. Tyler worked very hard over the last few months to learn how to play and the other 2 are veterans. Tyler did surprisingly well. He got 2 stale mates, 2 loses and a win. This picture is after he won which was the last game. He was so excited. Plus he got a new chess board in the door drawing. Way to go Tyler.
This is Tyler and Kaylyn. Kaylyn was playing in a new division this year. She won 3 games but no medal or trophy. She played some great games. I love that she works so hard.
Here is Tyler's coach. He taught him and worked with him. I love the sweet expression on Tyler face. I do believe that Tyler was the youngest player there.
Katie came for the last hour of the tournament. These things last all day and she would not make it very long. I basically sat in a school cafeteria all day.
And this my friends is the star of the show. He placed 4 in the highest division. His last game he got to play the highest ranked player. Had he won he would have gotten first place This is the second time he has been in the championship game. What an awesome kid. He had to work hard for this trophy. We are so pleased with him.
This was a fantastic day. All of our chess players did excellent. This really is a fun activity and we are looking forward to the next one. (The next time I'll be able to breathe a little bit better knowing that Tyler can do it. I was so worried. )

Great job guys. I am sure even Tyler could beat me because I never really learned how to play very well. I think last time I was up there Kaylyn beat me, and I was actually trying!

I am so proud of . . . ALL OF THEM! I missed seeing you today. Seriously, I think you should be so proud that you have three chess players (and before you know it, four!). :)

Congrats to them all! I LOVE that picture of Katie. I think it's my favorite of all the Katie pics I've seen!

What smartie kids you have! I am a chess lover too--all that strategy! Don't think I'd do very well in a tournament though. Congrats to all! (Even Katie, who survived the last hour.)

That is awesome! Congrats on all of the hard work! It's probably a good thing katie didn't have to sit through the whole day... she sure looked cute though when she 'arrived'! :-) I love the excited happy face on Tyler after his win! Great job guys! (and gal)!
