When I went home my sister had an idea. Her idea was to put a book together of images from my Grandma's home. I did and put them together in a book for her and my mom. They got the books today so I thought I would share some of the images.
This the outside. She has lived here forever. My mom grew up here and I spent so many day and nights here as well. It used to have a pine tree that was two stories tall. At Christmas time it would be lit up. It made the local papers. It was pretty impressive.
This shelf sits in living room. I just love the simplicity of it.
When my Grandma first moved to this home it was in the middle of nowhere. My earliest memories of it had a dairy farm in the back yard. Then it was just an open field where you could chase geese. Over the years properties have developed all around her. Behind this willow tree is the parking lot to a movie theater. I love this tree. Nothing better than a willow tree to play in.
This is William. He is a blue hippo. My Grandma loves him. She said if she were to ever have a collection it would be of blue hippos. She now has a collection. I think he is cute. I like blue hippos too.
This is the little girls room. It used to be my room. I love it.
My Grandma won an Senior Olympic medal for cross country skiing. I smile every time I think of her accomplishment.
This is a playhouse right outside the kitchen. When we were little we would play in it as well as the tree house that was not too far from here. I loved how it matched the main house.
And this my friends is her mail box. It is a little walk from the house and I have fetched her mail many times. Ahhhhh......memories.
This home holds a special place in my heart. I love my Grandma. She is one lovely lady. I have many memories of her but I would like to share one that is so vivid in my mind lately. When I had the surprise of my dear Katie I was extremely overwhelmed. Many people were just not understanding at all. Many times my feelings were hurt. I just needed someone to be able to relate to my feelings of inadequacies and tell me I would be OK. She was the one that filled the need for me. She had 5 and always wanted a big family. She called and comforted several times as well as sent little letters in the mail. I bonded with her over a sensitive matter. I will always treasure her kind gestures to me. I sure needed them. I am glad I was able to make this book for her and I hope she enjoys the pictures of her home.

Karen, what a beautiful post! Your grandma's house is all that it is supposed to be, and you captured that beautifully! I love my grandma's house, too. This will be a treasure for all of you and your kids in years to come.
Oh Karen! Lovely, just lovely. What a precious treasure. I'm going to call my grandmom right now...and I am so grateful that I still can. Thank you.
This was such a thoughtful idea, something that is really valuable to all three generations. I just have to know: how did your grandma respond? No doubt she loves it.
Those are beautiful pictures Karen!
What a wonderful idea! I wish I had the pictures that are in my memory of both of my Grandmothers homes the are vivid, but I can not pass them on! Your photography just keeps getting better each year!!!

Love this idea! I love that blue hippo too! You really did such a great job on these photos. I am amazed, my friend. :)
I feel blessed by the fact that even *I* have memories of your grandma's house. And of her. She made a big impact on me, just from the few times I met her many, many years ago. That's how cool she is.
