Our chess players.

The kids had a chess tournament on Saturday, the day after the crazy storms and tornado sirens. I was glad to see we were a little more prepared and sad to see destruction again in our county. Thomas was to be on a camp-out and had not planned on playing chess. But he did and had some awesome games against some very tough competition. One game he planned 7 moves ahead to win from behind. He was so happy. Kaylyn moved up to the next division. She was the youngest in her group. They had to play with clocks and that was tough. She walked away with a couple of wins. She was also paid a very nice compliment about her last chess tournament. That made me smile. She's amazing. Tyler also played and played rather well. He placed 10th. That's pretty cool and he came home with a medal. Katie and Dane hung out at the tournament and I stayed home. It was a fun day for all. Congrats to my Tyler. No more chess for this year which is a little bittersweet for me. But next year we'll add Katie into the mix and have all 4 playing.

These last two pictures are with the big wrench trophy from the Pinewood Derby. The Wolf den won and it travels from Wolf scout to Wolf scout. Tyler is pretty excited for his turn.
