Reunion 2011

Saturday night was Dane's 10 year reunion from Optometry school. They had a dinner. I was dreading going due to the fact these classmates knew me 10 years ago when I had a lot less weight. I kind of needed a 3 year warning instead of 3 weeks. None the less no matter how I tried to get out of going I went. Dane's graduating class had 40 students. 11 came and New York was the farthest anyone traveled. He had one classmate not practicing any more and staying home with her 4 kids. It seemed like 4 kids was the magic number. I was the only spouse there. I was glad to know that my guy wanted me there. Made me feel loved. Now you'll get some bullet points as to my thoughts during the evening.

  • I love that the evening started with prayer and than a War Eagle. Only in Alabama.
  • I know a lot about eyes. Not enough to diagnosis anything but I did keep up on the conversations.
  • As I was driving down there I saw tornado damage. It made glad to know that after so many years that we finally have family close enough to drive to. For the longest time we were on our own.
  • Although I never sat in a class with these people I still know them. Dane shared a lot and some people don't change or age.
  • I never would have guessed we would be in Alabama for 14 years. I was leaving after 4 years. My plans never work out.
  • I loved my new dress. Seriously loved it.
  • But most of all I love Dane and was so glad to be able to sit by his side all night.
Now I have 10 more years to lose the weight and gather more spouses to attend!

  4. A reunion is totally worth a cute dress like that. I'm glad you had a good time, and impressed that you could keep up with all the eye talk!

  5. Seriously, you are gorgeous in that dress! I'm so glad you went. That crowd can be a little intimidating, so way to go keeping up with the "shop talk".
