Reflection

This weekend Dane had his 10 year class reunion from the UAB School of Optometry. Just made me reflect on the years of school.

Moving day. Thomas was 15 months.
When we first got here I could not understand anyone. It took me weeks to order food. I also noticed how God loving the people of the South were. I noticed that they really like their football out here too.
I guess these would be Thomas days.
Our first dinner in AL was with the Giles. No joke. They were newlyweds and had us over. I remember details of there apartment. Stacey, I thought, had an accent. So when she told me she was from Arizona I was sure that I would have an accent too. I am happy to say I don't have one just my kids. Can you believe I've known them that long! Crazy how time flies. We also became dear friends with the Foutz. They are with us at the game. Actually they were with us everywhere, dinners, games, the zoo, story time etc.  They became our family away from family.
UAB Football.
Dane's first degree from UAB.
This was me. Taking care of my kiddos. This picture is so accurate as to how life was for me. I was blessed with a dear friend who had a baby a month before me. After Cole and Kaylyn were born I really got to know and love Jeannie. Dane and her husband were classmates. We helped each other with kid swaps and such.We spent many Thanksgiving together and we are way over due for a visit. They still live in Birmingham.
We lived on the 3rd floor of this apartment building. I had to carry groceries and kids up those stairs all the time. Oh, those were the days.
Our apartment.
Graduation Day!
This was our little family.
Dane spent his days in class and his night delivering pizzas. In between all that he studied. He always took Sunday off. It was a blessing to know I had him on those days. It's amazing we made it through. Good times that seems so far away.

Ahh, those were the days! Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Karen. I love that we shared some of those memories with you! Every time I see Thomas, that's how I remember him with his little bowl cut. So cute! It was so fun to have you guys as friends in school, and then in Madison too! And the Foutz are great, too. Fun times.

I loved reading this. It was so fun to look back through some of your old memories. Most of my favorite memories are of being a newlywed in college and living in a dumpy apartment and eating burritos for dinner EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. Good times, those days.

Ps. Your dress was beautiful and you looked beautiful in it.
